Fire brigades are seen at the Tembisa Hospital following another fire that broke out on 23 April 2025.
The Gauteng Department of Health has confirmed another fire incident at the Tembisa Tertiary Hospital, east of Johannesburg, early this morning.
This follows a fire that erupted on Saturday at the hospital’s emergency unit.
Gauteng Health spokesperson Motalatale Modiba says firefighters are on the scene.
“The Department of Health can confirm that fire brigades from the City of Ekurhuleni Fire Department are currently on site attending to what looks like another fire incident at the Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital’s main outpatient department, which is normally referred to as the OPD. This area is adjacent to the accident and emergency unit, which burnt on Saturday night. More details will be shared later as the matter is still being investigated.”
