The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) has welcomed the appointment of Waseem Carrim as the Acting CEO of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

Carrim, who previously served as the Chief Financial Officer of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), is expected to bring experience and a strong track record in public service to the role.

ANCYL Spokesperson Zama Khanyase called on stakeholders, including students, educational institutions, and government entities, to collaborate with Carrim to address ongoing challenges within NSFAS.

“As Carrim steps into his role as Acting CEO, he is tasked with navigating several critical challenges that have impacted NSFAS’s effectiveness in recent years: funding constraints, corruption and fraud, administrative inefficiencies, and student accommodation issues,” says Khanyase.

The ANCYL expressed confidence in Carrim’s leadership, stating that they expect his tenure to improve transparency, efficiency and accountability within NSFAS.
