ANCYL concludes the registration of the conference delegates

ANC Youth League Secretary General Mntuwoxolo Ngudle has confirmed that they have concluded the registration of the conference delegates.

The Youth League says it is anticipating a successful 27th national conference where the top six candidates will be elected unopposed.

The conference will be held at the University of Limpopo, east of Polokwane. 2 600 delegates are expected to participate in the conference.

Ngudle says the conference was delayed due to travel.

“We have concluded registration. All that our delegation is doing is picking up their tags according to their branches, sub-regions and regions. There are provinces like the Northern Cape with regions like Namakwa, where it’s 1 000 plus kilometers just to go to Kimberly, to come to Polokwane. They would have been delayed because of the travelling. Eastern Cape, also the regions like Nelson Mandela region and Sara Baartman, that’s why we had delayed in terms of travelling.”

ANCYL President Collen Malatji, who is expected to retain his position, says that the country’s minerals should benefit the youth.

He says there should be youth beneficiation.

The ANC Youth League maintained that South Africa must move decisively away from the export of raw materials towards local processing, manufacturing and value addition to create jobs and develop skills and retain wealth within the country. The league welcomes the growing consensus on the beneficiation and realises that the young people must be at the center of any beneficiation-led industrial program. The creation of decent sustainable jobs for young people through a radical restructuring of the economy and an increase of state led industrialization.
