The African National Congress (ANC) Women’s League has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to declare Gender Based Violence and Femicide a national disaster. The league was briefing the media on the side-lines of the three- day ANC National Executive Committee meeting at the Germiston Council Chamber east of Johannesburg.

It has vowed to lead a shutdown march on Thursday to highlight the plight of women in South Africa in the hands of men. ANC Women’s League Secretary General Nokuthula Nqaba says things have to change or else they will be forced to take to the streets in their numbers .
