African National Congress (ANC) Women’s League President, Sisisi Tolashe, has confirmed the safe return of Sedibeng executive mayor, Lerato Maloka.
Maloka and her driver were reported missing on Friday, and their vehicle was found abandoned.
Tolashe was speaking outside the home of fallen struggle stalwart Gertrude Shope.
Tolashe also called for an end to gender-based violence.
“Yes, she’s been found unharmed. She is alive. We praise God for that. We also really praise police who did their best to make sure that she and her driver were found unhurt.”
“We are calling to our men to make sure that they stand up. They stand with us to say no to gender-based violence and femicide. Men must take it upon themselves to protect their children, their women, their sisters, and their mothers. It can’t be right that women are being made to be targets of everyone else.”
