ANC regains power in highly contested by-election at the Karoo Hoogland Municipality.
The African National Congress (ANC) in the Northern Cape won a ward off Democratic Alliance (DA) in the highly contested by-elections at Karoo Hoogland Municipality in Namakwa yesterday.
The ANC received 803 votes, DA received 230 and Patriotic Alliance attained 247 votes.
This puts the ANC back in power at the municipality that was a hung council following the 2021 local government elections.
Ward 1 in Williston previously represented by the DA became vacant, after a councilor resigned.
