ANC NEC Member Ronald Lamola
The ANC says it will not be withdrawing its case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel. Last year South Africa took Israel, a close ally of the US, to the ICJ. This, among other issues, has caused South relations with the US to suffer strain.
This follows the US cutting foreign aid and the expulsion of South African Ambassador to the US Ebrahim Rasool.
However, speaking at the ANC NEC in Boksburg, Eastrand, today, ANC NEC Member Ronald Lamola has assured that while government is committed to making the US-SA relationship work, there are certain matters the country will not compromise on.

“There are issues of progressive internationalism that we cannot compromise on. That includes the issue of the ICJ. So, on the ICJ is an issue of international law, which has to be respected by everyone. And South Africa, this is a matter that we will not withdraw from the court, which we have already put. It’s a matter that we believe has to be dealt with on its merit. So, this is a matter that we will not compromise on.”
