African National Congress (ANC) veteran Omry Makgoale has backed the party’s President Cyril Ramaphosa’s comments that municipalities led by the Democratic Alliance (DA) are better managed than those under the ANC.

Ramaphosa unveiled the party’s Service Delivery Action Plan ahead of next year’s municipal elections. The six-pillar plan aims to address widespread service delivery challenges in local government.
Makgoale says Ramaphosa’s sentiments indicate that he wants improved governance across the country.
“I support the speech that he gave. He’s saying our councillors must learn how the DA councillors are performing in their areas. There’s nothing wrong to learn from a top-performing student in your same class. If you get 40% and there’s somebody in your class who gets 80%, you learn on how he gets that 80%, so you improve on yourself. I think in that sense, I don’t really blame the president on that issue,” he adds.
