The ANC will address the media this morning regarding the strained relations between South Africa and the United States. This issue is at the forefront of the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) three-day meeting in Boksburg, eastern Johannesburg.
Tensions between the two nations have escalated since US President Donald Trump criticized certain South African laws as discriminatory to a minority group.
After months of strained relations, including the cutting of foreign aid and the expulsion of South Africa’s ambassador to the US, Ebrahim Rasool, the ANC NEC will outline a potential way forward. The party is expected to present possible solutions and reaffirm its foreign policy stance.
