The African National Congress’ (ANC) Deputy Secretary-General, Nomvula Mokonyane, says it is all systems go for the party’s 113 birthday celebrations in Cape Town on Saturday.
The event, where the party’s President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the party’s January 8th Statement, will take place in Khayelitsha, just outside Cape Town.
Mokonyane spoke to the media after a site visit to the Mandela Park sports field, where the event will be held. The party expects 22 000 supporters to attend.
Meanwhile, Mokonyane, says she is satisfied that the ANC reconnected with many of its members in the Western Cape.
In the build-up to the celebration this week, ANC bigwigs were spread out in the Western Cape, preaching the message of renewal.
Mokonyane says the week has been fruitful.
“I am quite happy with the buildup. among others, visited veterans, because this programme of renewal asks us to also reconnect with those who came before us.”
