ANC raises concern over Malatsi’s communications’ amendments

The African National Congress has expressed concern about amendments by Communications Minister Solly Malatsi.

The amendments gazetted on Friday relate to communication imperatives about relevant legislation in departments and entities under the department.

The party believes that the Gazette introduces policy directions that exceed the minister’s legislative authority and therefore undermines South Africa’s transformation framework and threatens the integrity of the information, communications, technology and postal regulatory environment.

ANC MP Khusela Diko has stated that Malatsi cannot just willy nilly amend the legislation via policy directives.
