ANC NWC meets KZN leadership amid provincial election losses

The ANC National Working Committee (NWC) and KwaZulu-Natal provincial leadership are meeting this morning in Boksburg, eastern Johannesburg.

The meeting follows the party’s significant electoral losses in KwaZulu-Natal during the May 29 polls. The ANC NWC aims to address organizational issues identified during its recent visit to the province.

Some senior ANC members have previously called for an overhaul of the provincial leadership to address the growing influence of the Jacob Zuma-aligned MK party, which has positioned itself as a rival to the ANC.

KwaZulu-Natal provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo has expressed dissatisfaction with the situation.

The NWC has already indicated plans to propose leadership changes in the province. These recommendations will be presented to the National Executive Committee (NEC) during its mid-December meeting.
