ANC Mpumalanga outlines plan to accelerate economic transformation

The African National Congress (ANC) in Mpumalanga has resolved to fix local government, accelerate economic transformation and create job opportunities.

This was discussed at its two day provincial Lekgotla held  in Mbombela.

The ANC says its focus is on strengthening financial management by filling vacancies with skilled  personnel within municipalities.

The party says it is confident of retaining all the ANC led municipalities after this year’s local government elections, later this year.

Provincial Secretary Muzi Chirwa says the party will be working hard  to win the hearts of the voters.

“Prioritise infrastructure machinery equipment and intensify efforts towards road infrastructure development and maintenance, put in place measures to resolve water crises across the municipalities  in the province, and resuscitate war on water leakages in all the municipalities and continue their support collaboration with traditional leadership through specific programmes and ensuring community based responses.”

The leadership is calling for unity ahead of the party’s Provincial Elective Conference. ANC Chairperson Mandla Ndlovu says branches are nominating their preferred candidates.

Ndlovu says “We avail ourselves  in the conference, we are happy that we are handing over this organisation intact back to branches for them to decide what to do, would not know the outcome of the conference before the conference because we are the only organisation that assigned duties to membership as we speak branches through their membership are nominating leadership.”
