ANC Mpumalanga, Mabuza family set memorial for next Thursday

The African National Congress (ANC) Mpumalanga Executive Committee and the Mabuza family have agreed to hold the former Deputy President David Mabuza’s memorial service next week Thursday.

Deputy Provincial Chairperson of the ANC, Speedy Mashilo, says they had fruitful engagements with the family regarding arrangements to have a proper send-off for the late former deputy president.

Mashilo says memorial services will be taking place in all three regions of the province.

“Well, the provincial executive committee met with the family of Mabuza. We are quite happy with the process. We agreed to establish a team that the family has delegated Comrade Dez to be part of. This is the team that will be preparing, starting with the memorial services, which will commence on Thursday across our three regions so that at least people can have an opportunity to celebrate the life of Comrade DD. We agreed to prepare the funeral because this is a state funeral; we are still waiting for the state to agree with the date.”

David Mabuza remembered for his versatility:

Members of political parties converged on the homestead of the late Mabuza, in Barberton, Mpumalanga.

The parties include the ANC, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), and the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.

A former MEC in Mpumalanga, Pat Ngomane, recounts his memory of Mabuza: “I’m saddened, but I must say the man came into my life, touched my life, and gave me a lot of teachings. He benefited a lot of people in the province and the structures of the ANC government. The first name of Comrade DD was service delivery; he built a lot of roads, and he brought water into the society. Even though it is not complete, he touched a lot of people.”
