Supporters of the African National Congress (ANC) wave party flags at an event.
The African National Congress (ANC) in the Northern Cape says preparations have been finalised for holding its tenth provincial elective conference.
The gathering, which will start today, follows the completion of branch and regional elective conferences whose processes some members allege were rigged.
The conference is expected to elect the current party chairperson, Doctor Zamani Saul, unopposed.
ANC Provincial Secretary Deshi Ngxanga says improving the delivery of basic services and consolidating policy will top the agenda of the conference.
“Critical to this conference is the state of local government. There is a comprehensive report in the organizational report that reflects on the state of local government, focusing on service delivery, in particular, water service. More and more municipalities experience water disruption, so we want to sit and delve on that what is the cause of that and come up with a solution that will address that problem,” says Ngxanga.
