ANC in North West sharpens focus on service delivery

The African National Congress (ANC) in the North West says it is sharpening its focus on service delivery as part of efforts to improve governance and organisational readiness in the province.

The party held its Extended Provincial Executive Committee Lekgotla in Klerksdorp, which ended on Saturday.

Party leaders have met ahead of this year’s Local Government Elections to assess challenges affecting municipalities.

Speaking on the sidelines of the gathering, Reginah Mhaule, deployed as ANC National Executive Committee  (NEC) member in the province, says service delivery issues undermine public confidence in local government.

“When we started, we outlined the resolutions of the NEC Lekgotla of the ANC and then we localised them because they are too broad for South Africa. However, here we take resolutions that align with the needs of NW residents, such as water, electricity, roads and pothole issues in our municipalities. We also have a problem of unruly councillors that fight amongst each other, so now we urge them to stop so that we can focus on addressing issues of service delivery for the sake of our people.”
