ANC in GP still seeks EFF partnership dispite Malema’s utterances

The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng says it still wants to work with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in all municipalities within the province.

Earlier this month, EFF leader Julius Malema said his party would end cooperation agreements with the ANC in Gauteng.

He accused ANC Chairperson in Ekurhuleni, Doctor Nkosidipile Xakaza of wanting to push the EFF out of their governance responsibilities in his metro.

ANC Provincial coordinator, Hope Papo spoke on the sidelines of the ANC’s Provincial Gauteng two-day Lekgotla in Johannesburg.

“We still feel that we can cooperate with them because the EFF has not been kicked out of any municipality by the ANC. No, all our regions are part of the discussions, including our report back. We’ve always been in touch with the eff, including that time there was a problem between the pa and the eff in Johannesburg. We discussed that with the EFF. The EFF has not been kicked out of municipality. The issue we’re discussing with the EFF is about the number of MMCs in Ekurhuleni. That’s the issue we’re actually engaging with the EFF, and that’s the issue the EFF is actually probably upset about.”
