ANC in Gauteng welcomes NEC’s intervention: Lesufi

Gauteng African National Congress (ANC) Provincial Chairperson, Panyaza Lesufi, says they have welcomed the ANC National Executive Committee intervention in Gauteng.

He was speaking at the provincial ANC’s 113th anniversary celebrations at the Alexandra Stadium north of Johannesburg this afternoon.

Last month, the ANC NEC announced the reconfiguration of the ANC in both Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal within the framework of its constitution.

The reconfiguration involves some possible changes in the PEC structures.

This follows the poor performance of the two provinces where Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal got 35 and 17%, respectively.

Lesufi says in as much as they accept the intervention, they will not allow those who hate them to haunt them out of the ANC.

“This ANC is ours and this ANC belongs to our people and no one will takeover the African National Congress and we will defend this ANC with whatever we have in our powers, and whatever structures we have, because no one must control the ANC outside the structures of the African National Congress,” says Lesufi.
