ANC Free State removes mayors in seven municipalities

The ANC in the Free State has resolved to remove seven municipal mayors, speakers and chief whips.

The affected municipalities are Mafube, Moqhaka, Letsemeng, Nketoana, Nala, Masilonyana and Lejweleputswa.

The party today announced the outcomes of yesterday’s special PEC meeting.

The ANC is citing persistent disclaimers, weak leadership and poor governance, which undermine service delivery including allegations of corruption.

“The PEC resolved that priority interventions will be undertaken in Mafube, Moqhaka, Letsemeng, Nketoana, Nala and Lejweleputswa District Municipality,” explains the party’s provincial Secretary Polediso Motsoeneng.
