ANC Free State commits to fixing ‘worst performing municipalities’

The ANC in the Free State says action will be taken in municipalities following damning revelations during an oversight visit by Parliament’s Portfolio Commitee on Cooperative Governance in the province last week.

The committee has indicated that the province has the worst performing municipalities with no clean audits.

The ANC’s Provincial Working Committee is currently meeting to discuss what action will be taken against these municipalities.

Party Provincial Secretary, Polediso Motsoeneng, says, “We need to determine the course of action we take in terms of the gravity of the problems that we have experienced. Cogta came here and exposed something that we also found during our roadshows as the leadership of the province. That cemented a long-standing view of what is wrong in our municipalities and what we need to do to correct these things.”
