In keeping with the African custom and tradition, which requires that traditional leadership be informed and consulted before undertaking any activities in their jurisdiction, the ANC is meeting with a number traditional leadership ahead of its birthday celebrations in the North West.
Earlier Wednesday, President Cyril Ramaphosa met Kgosi Leruo Molotlegi of the Royal Bofokeng nation.
This was preceded by the meeting with Kgosi Nyalala Pilane of the Bakgatla ba ga Kgalefa on Monday.
President Ramaphosa says they have discussed the challenges that people are facing and how they can solve them.
“We always go on pilgrimage to go and see those who lead our people in a variety of roles and King Molotlegi is the King of the Bafokeng here. His family has played a key role in the struggle and it is for that reason that we came on a pilgrimage to pay our respects to His Majesty and we do so, so that we can also hear some of the challenges that our people are facing in this area which we have discussed and also the opportunities that are there which we also discussed.”
