ANC confirms expiration of Brown Mogotsi’s membership

The African National Congress (ANC) has now confirmed that Brown Mogotsi, an alleged associate of Police Minister Senzo Mchunu who has been placed on leave of absence, is no longer a member of the party.

In a statement, the party has indicated that his membership has expired.

On Thursday, Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula told the media that the party has distanced itself from Mogotsi, adding that dubious characters were using the name of the ANC and its deployees for their own criminal activities.

Mbalula said that the ANC cannot have the likes of Mogotsi running amok within the organisation.

During proceedings at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, Crime Intelligence boss General Dumisani Khumalo revealed chats between attempted murder accused Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala and Mogotsi on how he allegedly pressured Matlala to bankroll ANC events.
