ANC Commissions to debate on state of National Democratic Revolution

The second day of the African National Congress (ANC) National General Council (NGC) continues in Boksburg, East of Johannesburg, on Tuesday.

The ANC NGC is used as a mid-term progress report on the state of the organisation.

Today’s programme will comprise commissions that will discuss the state of the National Democratic Revolution (NDR) and the balance of forces.

Meanwhile, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula says the renewal of branches of the primary structure of the party is central to its revival.

“Over time, many branches became functional only during leadership contests and conference periods. To address this, the branch functionality parameter was developed and piloted in 2023. By the time of the NGC, more than 860 branches had completed the audit, although participation varied significantly across provinces. The parameter is intended to entrench a culture of routine reporting, community engagement and constitutional compliance, thereby breaking the cycle of conference branches.”
