Commissioners of the Madlanga Inquiry at the inquiry’s sitting in Pretoria, 5 Dec 2025.
Political analyst Dr Dale McKinley has warned of a possible public backlash if the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry’s final report is not made public.
The Presidency has confirmed that the Commission’s interim report, which will be submitted to President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday, will not be made public.
It says this is because the Commission is yet to hear more evidence.
Dr McKinley says the public is anxiously waiting for the commission’s final report. ” It’s an interim report, so let’s see what the President will say about the final report. If the final report is kept under wraps, then there will be massive concerns, rightfully so. And there is likely to be a lot of opposition from the public. There will be an outcry, I think. My sense is that this is probably an interim measure for them to look at the report first and then the final one would be made public. If it’s not, then the ANC should brace itself for a serious, serious backlash.”
