Ambassador Mahlangu to be laid to rest in Mpumalanga

The Former Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces and Diplomat, Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu, will be laid to rest on Saturday at the Middelburg Heroes Arch cemetery in Mpumalanga.

Mahlangu has been honoured with a Special official Funeral Category 2 by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The late 72-year-old Mahlangu played an important role in the struggle for the liberation of South Africa.

He participated in the drafting of the country’s constitution, which was adopted in 1996. He passed on while deployed as an ambassador for South Africa in Kenya.

To honour him, President Cyril Ramaphosa has ordered that the country’s national flag be flown at half-mast until the evening of Mahlangu’s burial.

Deputy President Paul Mashatile is expected to deliver the eulogy at the funeral of the long-serving diplomat.
