AmaZulu King MisuZulu kaZwelithini and Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela.
Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela, the wife of AmaZulu King MisuZulu kaZwelithini has turned to the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg in an urgent bid to halt the King’s looming nuptials with Queen Nomzamo Myeni.
In papers before the court, Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela seeks an order which will halt the King’s proposed wedding ceremony to Queen Nomzamo Myeni on the 24th and 26th of this month.
Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela states in papers that she is currently married to the King of the AmaZulu nation under civil marriage, in community of property, adding that the King cannot enter into a civil marriage and/or customary marriage whilst the pair’s civil marriage still exists (i.e. a person in a civil marriage can’t enter two marriages simultaneously).
The Queen further argues in papers, that if the King of the AmaZulu nation proceeds with the upcoming wedding ceremony, it will be a marriage that is null and void.
As a result, the Queen is seeking the court’s intervention in the form of an interim interdict.
