This is according to party founder and leader Floyd Shivambu. He was speaking during Mayibuye’s inaugural provincial induction programme in Polokwane, Limpopo.
Shivambu says the party’s leadership has opted to begin their inductions in Limpopo, as the province is the party’s strongest hold. He says he is optimistic that his party will do well in next year’s local government elections.
“We are going to win elections in a lot of municipalities in Sekhukhune and Waterberg in Vhembe in Capricorn in Mopani. There is a huge ground swell and there are solid reasons why people should vote for Afrika Mayibuye Movement. We are more than ready to contest and win elections and this is exactly what we are gong to do to rescue the people of Limpopo, the people of South Africa from the dysfunctional municipalities that exist,” he says.
Some party supporters who were part of the Afrika Mayibuye Movement induction program, have expressed excitement at the party’s prospects.
“I am very excited as the party came just in time, as we are tired of the African National Congress (ANC). I believe if the party wins next year’s local government elections, we will stand a better chance at employment. As young people, we are happy about the formation of Mayibuye as it is youth- centered. The party has continued to encourage us as young people to fight for our rights,” adds Shivambu.
