AfriForum urges NPA to reconsider decision on Mbalula Dubai trip

AfriForum says it wants the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to revisit its decision not to prosecute African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula. The group briefed the media on Wednesday after releasing what it calls the “Mbalula Dossier”.

It alleges the case relates to corruption, fraud and money laundering linked to Mbalula’s Dubai holiday in 2016. Head of AfriForum’s private prosecution Unit, Advocate Gerrie Nel, says AfriForum believes the case was wrongly handled.

“We say that the failure of the NPA to prosecute is irrational and based on an absolutely wrong understanding of the definition of corruption. We say it’s a perfect story. The Hawks provided a deficient case docket to the NPA, but they did no further investigation.”
