AfriForum takes legal fight against ‘Kill the Boer’ chant overseas

AfriForum says that it has instructed its lawyers to take its legal fight against the ‘Kill the Boer’ chant overseas – in the hope that it can find international platforms through which it can continue its legal action.

This follows the Constitution Court’s rejection of the lobby group’s leave to appeal the ‘Kill the Boer’ judgment, which found that the chant did not constitute Hate Speech.

AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel says that their continued fight is a matter of dignity.

“This is disrespect for the dignity of Afrikaners, and we have self-respect. We’re not going to take this lying down, and that is why we will fight this with everything we have – also internationally. We’ve already instructed our legal team to look at what platforms there are, what international courts, what sections of the UN to take this further, and then, of course, we’ll also garner support from governments internationally.”

ConCourt dismisses Afriforum’s bid for leave to appeal the “Kill the boer” judgment

Lobby group says that it will push for Afrikaaners, farmers and other minority groups to protect themselves within the confines of the law.

Kriel describes yesterday’s judgment as shocking.

“We are seeing a radicalisation in the interpretation of the Constitution. We are seeing more and more ideologically driven judges – this, together with the fact that the Presidency as well as the government refuses to condemn these slogans that call for the killing of Afrikaaners.”
