Africa Youth in Tourism summit gives young entrepreneurs hope

While the tourism industry is still recovering from COVID, there is hope for potential growth in the sector for young and emerging entrepreneurs on the continent.

Africa Youth Tourism Co-chairperson, Akwasi Obeng Adjei says they have noticed a peak in the sector.

Adjei was speaking at the 7th Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit in Midrand.

Industry leaders are engaging on issues around youth entrepreneurship, small enterprise development and personal transformation.

Adjei elaborates, “Tourism growth in 2024, there were about 1.1 billion travelers globally. We have also seen an increase in tourist visits to Africa and travel is improving. It creates an opportunity for the youth to partake in the industry, particularly given that we are now moving into an era of innovation and technological advancement and the youth are at the forefront of technology.”

The summit has attracted academics, industry players and youth from different parts of Africa.
