The adoptive father of a disabled woman from Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape has been sentenced to life in prison for orchestrating her murder for insurance fraud. 57-seven-year-old Mboneleli Msila hired three people to carry out the crime.

The 23-year-old woman was shot 15 times in her home three years ago.

Earlier this week, all four men were found guilty of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The High Court sitting in Knysna sentenced the gunman to life in prison, while the two other accused each received 17 years’ imprisonment.

Gift Mzamo, the victim’s relative says, “When I heard that she was shot I knew that this was a planned hit because a lot of money came out. Even my aunt had a lot of money, yet she couldn’t even support us. Now that the money was blocked, my aunt comes to our house and asks for assistance. As long as the people who did this were convicted, I am happy,” says the relative.
