Administrator to replace Ingonyama Trust Board: Minister Nyhontso

The Land Reform and Rural Development Minister, Mzwanele Nyhontso, says an administrator will replace the Ingonyama Trust Board.

He announced the dissolution of the Board on Wednesday, saying it followed consultation with the AmaZulu King Misuzulu KaZwelithini as the sole trustee and KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli.

The trust oversees 2.8 million hectares of land across KwaZulu-Natal.

Premier’s office Lindelani Mbatha says, “The Premier further reiterated the provincial government’s readiness to work collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders in ensuring that the objectives of the Trust are preserved and strengthened, particularly in relation to effective land management, infrastructure development, and the unlocking of economic opportunities within Trust-held land.”

“The Premier calls for calm and constructive engagement during this period of transition and reaffirms the importance of cooperative governance in addressing matters of land, development, and traditional leadership with the sensitivity and respect they deserve,” adds Mbatha.
