Robert McBride appears before the Ad Hoc Committee, January 20, 2026.
Former Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) head Robert McBride will on Wednesday morning return to testify before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee.
McBride started testifying on Tuesday.

His testimony follows testimonies of previous witnesses, including KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, suspended Police Ministry chief-of-staff Cedrick Nkabinde and fired former acting Deputy Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane.

The former IPID head told MPs that Crime Intelligence operatives attempted to recruit investigators working on sensitive corruption cases, including the probe into former Acting Police Commissioner, Khomotso Phahlane.
He also linked those allegations to the murder of senior IPID investigator, Mandla Mahlangu, after he made a sworn statement.

MPs are expected to press McBride further on allegations of infiltration, interference and national security risks.
