Activists opposed to budget cuts have gathered at Hanover Street in the Cape Town CBD ahead of a march to Parliament.
This as Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana is set to deliver his budget speech this afternoon.
Groups include the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Peasants and the social movement Cry of the Excluded.
Spokesperson for the organisers, Maddo Cuphe says, “We have been feeling the effects of austerity and budget cuts for the last 30 years. These budget cuts had investment value on human development and prioritiSing private sector has led to the collapse of our communities, where public transport is collapsing, and] public education is collapsing.”
