ActionSA national chairperson and Joburg mayoral candidate, Michael Beaumont.
ActionSA in Johannesburg says its mayoral candidate will be chosen based on their ability to turn around the service delivery collapse in the city.
That’s according to the party’s national chairperson, Michael Beaumont.
The party’s selection committee has shortlisted five candidates, including Beaumont, party leader Herman Mashaba, spokesperson Lerato Ngobeni, Gauteng provincial leader Funzi Ngobeni and MP Dereleen James.
A final decision will be announced on Saturday.
Beaumont says their campaign will be based on action and not empty promises.
“The final decision seems to be very heavily based on a turnaround plan for Johannesburg because candidates were required to produce a turnaround plan that addressed the city’s finances and reprioritised expenditure in the direction of the basic service delivery. I don’t think sitting in a pothole is going to change anything about the City of Johannesburg. But I think what’s important to know is that people trust what you do, not what you say.”
