Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe appearing before the standing committee on social development in Parliament, August 27, 2025.
ActionSA MP Dereleen James has filed criminal charges against Social Development Minister Nokuzola Tolashe at the Cape Town Central Police Station.
James says the charge relates to the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.
She claims that Tolashe, who was receiving alleged gifts as ANC Women’s League President, has misled Parliament for failing to declare two luxury vehicles registered under her two children.
The party’s Women’s League has denied knowledge of the vehicles in media reports.
James says the vehicles were allegedly from unknown Chinese donors and goes further to say Parliament’s Ethics Committee must look into the matter.
“We are guided, we have PRECCA, the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act and that is the Act that we gonna lay the charges against. Because we believe that the minister violates that Act. It guides us where there could be possible corruption. Those are the charges that we gonna be laying.”
“Definitely she failed to declare these vehicles. Firstly, the vehicles belong to the ANC. The ANC has come back, I think it was in some radio station – I think it was the Treasurer General who said, ” You know what … we do not know these vehicles. So the minister is running amok here. We just want to get to the bottom of this,” she adds.
