ActionSA Ekurhuleni Mayoral candidate Xolani Khumalo
ActionSA national chairperson Michael Beaumont says the party will not suspend its Ekurhuleni Mayoral candidate Xolani Khumalo following allegations of involvement in an assault case. Khumalo will on Monday morning voluntarily hand himself over to the police.

The party says the incident stems from information leaked from within the South African Police Service (SAPS) indicating an intention to arrest Khumalo in connection with a case involving an alleged drug dealer.
ActionSA claims that the same suspect laid a false charge of assault against Khumalo.
Beaumont says what’s unfolding in Ekurhuleni exposes police corruption.
” If anything, what this really does is it takes the issue of drugs and crime in Ekurhuleni and the manner in which its operating with the tacit or explicit protection of the police and it elevates it and it elevates the work that Xolani Khumalo is doing in these communities. So, we will make this central to his campaign going forward, and we actually think if anything, it’s just going to make people more angry about what they know is going on in their communities.”
