ActionSA slams SAPS for slow reaction to Eldorado Park child abuse case

ActionSA has criticised the SAPS in Eldorado Park for their slow reaction to reports of child abuse.

This after the parents of a two-year-old boy and his 4-year-old sister were yesterday arrested on charges of attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice.

It’s alleged that the father had sexually and physically assaulted the little girl at their home in extension one on Wednesday. The little girl is currently on life support at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.

Action SA MP Dereleen James who visited the scene of the crime yesterday evening explains.

“The community had explained to me what had happened. It was sad that at that point the SAPS didn’t proceed to the crime scene. It was sad to listen to what actually happened to this little girl. She was being brutally violated from 8 o’clock the morning until two o’clock in the afternoon. SAPS has failed this girl. The fact that they could only respond to the crime scene a day later. They arrested the dad yesterday and just left and never ever returned, never bothered taking statements, didn’t bother doing anything until last night when I had to contact the head of FCS unit and she too wasn’t notified by the local police station.”
