ActionSA says DA’s case against Tshwane’s Deputy Mayor attempt to deflect from own failures

ActionSA has dismissed the DA’s case against Tshwane’s Deputy Mayor and MMC for Finance, Eugene Modise, as an attempt to deflect from its own failures in the city.

The DA has opened a fraud case against Modise following the tabling of the forensic investigation report which found that he was unethically benefiting from a company currently doing business with the municipality.

ActionSA argues that the report lacks substantial evidence to support any charges of fraud or corruption.

ActionSA’s National Chairperson Michael Beaumont says the council has already taken the appropriate step by referring the report to a committee for formal review.

“Council has already taken the correct step of referring the report to a committee for formal consideration. This process exists to ensure that the matter is handled with the seriousness it deserves, in a lawful, fair and procedurally sound manner. It is only through this route that Council can reach conclusions that are credible and defensible.”
