ActionSA pulls out of National Dialogue

ActionSA has joined the list of entities withdrawing from the upcoming National Dialogue due to concerns about the logistics of hosting it.

The dialogue will take place at the University of South Africa (Unisa) in Pretoria on Friday.

Last week, several legacy foundations withdrew from the dialogue, claiming it had been compromised. These include, among others, the Steve Biko Foundation, Thabo Mbeki Foundation, Chief Albert Luthuli Foundation, and Oliver and Adelaide Tambo Foundation.

ActionSA’s Parliamentary leader Athol Trollip says the party will send two MPs for observation to the dialogue.

Trollip says, “It appears that the Presidency is taking over this process and it now appears to be government-led.”

“We are very concerned about issues around the budget, accountability and the fact that this could turn out just to be a smokescreen for the government- African National Congress (ANC) to use this National Dialogue as a campaign to restore support for the upcoming 2026 Local Government Elections and we are sending two of our senior members of parliament for our watching and listening brief,” he adds.
