National Dialogue 2025.
ActionSA is one of the political parties keeping a close eye on South Africa’s first National Convention, held at the University of South Africa (UNISA), in Pretoria.
The party’s National Spokesperson, Lerato Ngobeni, says the party is attending in an observatory role, as leaders and citizens gather to confront the country’s most urgent challenges.

We have withdrawn from active participation in the upcoming National Dialogue Convention amid growing concerns about the process.
We will, instead, deploy two of our MPs to observe and exercise oversight over the proceedings.

She says ActionSA is watching to see whether the convention delivers meaningful outcomes and crucially, whether it includes the voices of civil society.
“We are observing what is happening, whether this is fruitful or not, whether society is truly involved and whether this is not like an 80% or 90% Africa National Congress (ANC) rally. This is how we felt this morning,” says Ngobeni.
She says they are now in the breakaways and want to see what is going to be fruitful out of the breakaways.
“The morning session was a bit troublesome from where we were sitting. It didn’t look like things were off to a good start as there was a lot of chaos,” she adds.
