Home Affairs building in Germiston engulfed in flames.
ActionSA has condemned the arson attack on the Germiston Home Affairs building calling it an unacceptable and an unlawful act that targets public infrastructure.
The party say they acknowledge the desperation and distress of those facing eviction from Pharoe Park, however, the illegal hijacking of buildings and destruction of public facilities cannot be justified.
“We condemn the action.
Ultimately it is going to be the taxpayer who will have to find an alternative for home affairs to function.”

ActionSA Parliamentary Chief Whip, Lerato Ngobeni, says the party supports the lawful execution of court orders regarding evictions, but stresses the need for urgent humanitarian support for those affected.
“This crisis did not occur in isolation. The city is aware of the simmering tension at Pharoe Park. We spend more on VIP protection than crime intelligence, which should have triggered pre-emptive planning, mediation and coordinated law-enforcement response. The absence of such measures reflects a serious failure of leadership governance in Ekurhuleni.”
