Action Citizens Forum demands more arrests in BOSASA corruption case

The Action Citizens Forum has called for more arrests in the BOSASA multi-million-rand corruption case.

This follows the arrest of former Deputy Minister of Correctional Services, Thabang Makwetla.

He appeared earlier this week before the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Ekurhuleni.

He faces charges related to the contravention of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act and fraud. The charges stem from an alleged security upgrade to his home by BOSASA in 2015, valued at approximately R350 000.

Makwetla has been released on R10 000 bail and the matter was postponed to the 4th November.

The forum’s spokesperson Dennis Bloem says the law must take its course.

“This action by the IDAC, gives us new hope that all the others who are fingered in the BOSASA corruption by Mr Agrizzi, namely, such as Gwede Mantashe, Nomvula Mokonyane and Cedrick Florick will also be charged. We have said many times that nobody is above the law. We are calling for the arrest of all those who are implicated in Zondo Commission Report. The law must take its course.”
