Sibiya and four of his co-accused are on trial for the murder of Meyiwa in Vosloorus, East of Johannesburg in 2014.

He has refuted claims that he was with the state’s key witness Constable Sizwe Zungu on the day the footballer was killed.

He told the court he only met the police officer in 2017.

Constable Zungu has placed all five accused at Basotho Hostel on the day of the alleged hit.

Responding to questions from defence counsel, Sipho Ramosepele, Sibiya says he is baffled as to why Zungu would allege that they were all at the hostel the day of Meyiwa’s murder.

“I’m sitting here and scratching my head baffled. You meet Constable Zungu for the first time in 2017. What will make him to come here in court, take an oath and implicate you in a murder scene, in a murder case?” asked Ramosepele.

Sibiya says he does not know the reason as to why Constable Zungu would place him at the scene of crime that took place in 2014.

“I cannot speak on his behalf. I only knew Zungu in 2017. During the year 2014 I never knew him,” adds Sibiya.
