Accused one returns to stand for re-examination in Meyiwa trial

Accused one in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, Muzi Sibiya, is expected back on the stand on Wednesday at the High Court in Pretoria for re-examination.

The state wrapped up the cross-examination of Sibiya’s testimony on Tuesday.

Sibiya and four others are on trial for the 2014 murder of Meyiwa, who was shot and killed at Vosloorus on Gauteng’s East Rand.

Sibiya alleges he was assaulted and forced to sign a statement on his confession. He allegedly also signed a statement after pointing out of the scene. However, Sibiya says he was not of sound mind.

“And then during the time I met up with him, I was so emotionally moved, and even on my mind, I was just mixed up. There was nowhere in which I was going to say that I was indeed in my sober and sound senses.  I was assaulted, and I got injured again.”
