Police arrested a 41-year-old man in Yeoville, Johannesburg, in connection with the incident at the Zanzou nightclub in Pretoria.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers were on patrol in Yeoville when they identified the suspect from videos circulating on social media. After verifying his identity, they arrested and detained him at a local police station.
The man arrested in connection with the gruesome torture and assault at the infamous Zanzou nightclub in Pretoria, has been granted R10 000 bail in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court.
The 41-year-old Congolese national faces a multitude of charges, including eight counts of sexual assault. He is one of eight suspects linked to a graphic video that showed male patrons being forced to sexually assault each other.
The case has been postponed to May 5, 2025, for further investigations.
