Absolom Zungu to continue testimony at Meyiwa trial

Absolom Zungu is expected back at the High Court in Pretoria on Thursday to testify on the statement he allegedly made to the investigating officers in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.

Zungu is the second witness to be called by the defence to testify at the High Court in Pretoria.

Five men are on trial for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.

Zungu is the father of key state witness Constable Sizwe Zungu, who placed all five accused at a hostel in Vosloorus the day of the alleged hit.

Absolom Zungu has denied making a statement that implicated two of the accused to Brigadier Bongani Gininda, the lead investigator.

Zungu: They said that I must say the names of the arrested ones. They then mentioned the names, it’s so and so.

Advocate Charles Mnisi: What specific names did they say you must mention?

Zungu: The names of Muzi and Ntanzi. They asked me what is it that I know about the killing of Meyiwa. Do I know who killed Meyiwa?
