The HAWKS have confirmed the arrest of a 21-year-old suspect in the online leakage of the 2024 matric results.
The Basic Education Department lodged a complaint that matric results were being sold for about R100 on the internet last weekend, ahead of the release of the results earlier this week.
After the approval of a search and seizure warrant, the Hawks descended upon a house in Hillcrest, north of Johannesburg, where the suspect and his parents reside.
During the search, various electronic gadgets and an unlicenced shotgun with live ammunition were found.
The 21-year-old suspect will be detained for the unlawful possession of a firearm and further investigation into the matric result leakage will continue.
