A nation behind Bafana Bafana as they take on Cameroon

The Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture has wished Bafana Bafana success for their game on Sunday night.

Bafana Bafana take on Cameroon at the El Barid Stadium in their last 16 knockout encounter.

Committee chairperson Joe McGluwa has described the game as a big moment for the country, saying as the committee they are fully behind the national soccer team.

“This is a big moment for South Africa. We are all nervous but I must say that we are happy and we are excited too. On behalf of the Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture and the entire nation, we would like to wish Bafana Bafana well on the game today. We would like to say to them from Cape town to Cairo, from the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic, scores of South Africans are behind you. Bafana Bafana go out and play with pride, play with heart and let the roar of Mzansi be heard across the continent. Good luck to Bafana Bafana.”

Avid soccer fans in South Africa are expected to be glued to their TV screens to watch Bafana Bafana take on Cameroon, one of the strongest teams in Africa.

Durban fans, who were doing their morning training run at a local sports field, acknowledge that it will be a tough challenge, but are confident of a win for the boys.

“I believe Bafana will qualify for the next round because we have been able to improve in terms of passings and we have that believe as South Africans. The formation that can take us through is 4-4-2 and I have huge confidence in Foster and Appollis and we also need players like Mofokeng in the midfield.”

“Bafana going to win by two goals to nil. They are mentally strong, our coach has instilled discipline to our guys but today’s formation should be 4-4-2, will be fine. At the back we are solid and they are doing well, and in front we have good guys like Moremi, Appollis and they going to score.”

“Bafana is going to win even if it’s tough but they are going to win no matter what.”

Some had a few words of advice for the team and the coach.

“They must keep calm and soccer can be an emotional game sometimes. When you are on the field and they must make sure that they put good strikers today.”

“I see Bafana winning today with a big score 3-1. After they have made changes in the last game, we got a penalty and it shows that we need changes as soon as the coach realised that there is a problem, he must make changes. Bafana must attack by all means and they must feel our presence. In fact, this is the beginning of the World Cup.”
