Suspects in police officer’s murder appear in Ekurhuleni court

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (HAWKS) have arrested two suspects for killing a police officer in Springs in Ekurhuleni.

Captain Wynand du Toit, who was attached to Springs SAPS, was shot and killed on Sunday during a robbery at a supermarket in Geduld, Springs.

Nthuthuzelo Mana and Thirty-Benjamin Ntuli appeared before the Springs Magistrate’s Court today for the murder of Captain du Toit.

HAWKS spokesperson Thatohatsi Mavimbela says the matter has been postponed to next week Thursday for further investigations.

“Captain du Toit was shot and killed on Sunday February 16 during a robbery at a supermarket in Geduld, Springs. The pair made their first appearance at the Springs Magistrate’s Court. Mana, who is currently in hospital appeared in absentia. The matter has been postponed to Thursday 27 for further investigations.”
